The Role

Parklands High School – Job Opportunity


Position: House Achievement Leader (Grade 7)

Contract: Term Time + 1 Week to include 3 x INSET days, Open Evening and GCSE and KS3 Presentation Evenings

Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Thurs 08:10–16:30, Fri 08:10–15:10)

Pro rata salary: £26960.12 - £30577.14

Honorarium: £3,343 (3.5) for leadership of Early Help Referrals and Reward Initiatives

Parklands High School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed House Achievement Leader (HAL) to join our high-performing and student-centred team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual passionate about pastoral care and academic success to contribute meaningfully to the lives of young people.

As one of five HALs supporting our vertically structured House system (Years 7–11), you will play a vital role in tracking pupil achievement, leading intervention strategies, and fostering a culture of care, inclusion, and aspiration.


Key Responsibilities

Academic Progress and Achievement

  • Monitor student performance using assessment data and identify areas for intervention
  • Coordinate strategies to raise achievement across all subjects
  • Provide regular progress updates to staff, families, and senior leaders
  • Deliver House and achievement assemblies and manage reward/sanction systems
  • Lead the development of action plans for underachieving individuals and groups

Pupil Welfare and Behaviour

  • Support student wellbeing, transitions, and reintegration following suspensions
  • Work with external agencies, SENCO, and the wider Achievement Team to address pastoral concerns
  • Lead House events including assemblies, reward ceremonies, and tutor meetings
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, and implement improvement strategies

Inclusion and Early Help

  • Lead on Early Help Referrals, coordinating multi-agency involvement and safeguarding support
  • Work collaboratively within the school’s Inclusion Rooms and with pastoral teams
  • Participate in the school’s on-call rota and behaviour management processes
  • Maintain detailed pupil records and case files in line with safeguarding guidelines

Rewards and Engagement

  • Develop and deliver House reward systems and celebration assemblies
  • Plan and organise House trips, ensuring all safety and risk assessment procedures are followed
  • Implement targeted reward strategies to engage specific pupil groups

Additional Commitment

The role is full time, term time only plus one week.


Additional paid hours may be claimed for:

  • Out-of-hours meetings with families, police, or external agencies
  • Parents' evenings (up to six per year)
  • Approved twilight or extended sessions

The House Achievement Leader will report to:

  • Assistant Headteacher (Line Manager)
  • Deputy Headteacher: Student Achievement & Progress
